Days of motherhood

I have to say I've really been enjoying my days with the boys. Now that we are in a good routine, I am finding our days are so enjoyable! I'm still discovering what this whole motherhood thing is all about everyday and sometimes I find myself pleasantly surprised. I never really know what to expect and when kids are suppose to be able to do things, so Joey is always shocking me with his language and actions. Yesterday, we were playing in the backyard. Under the slide of our swing set is a little area with a bench and table. Joey started playing store and was pretending to make me all kinds of things. {cookies, grilled cheese, ice cream}. He would ask what I wanted and pretend to whip it up. I was thoroughly surprised that he had the imagination to play make believe like that. These new things are really such a joy of motherhood!

And here is what else we've been up to in the past week!

This kid is the happiest baby on the block! And his combover? It's going to be all the rage.
"I push Teddy!"

I have a weakness for gap hoodies ;)

Oh hi mummy! Just happy as always.

Since when did my baby get old enough to climb the chain ladder by himself?!?!

My grocery shopping buddy! This was promptly before I ended up having to carry him around while trying to figure out where to put my groceries around the car seat. Yah, not my smartest decision to do  my shopping with a nosy baby and a car seat that takes up the majority of the carriage!!

Sundays are my fave day of the week. We went to church, grabbed donuts and headed to the playground. It was splendid.

Joey moments

Joey cracks me up on the regular. I want to remember these funny, silly, poignant little moments of my 2 1/2 year old's daily life. Since i have the memory of a gnat and I don't do the baby book thing I must post my thoughts.

First off. HUGE difference between 2 and 2 1/2! I feel like Joey is really becoming a little boy with intelligible {somewhat} thoughts and comprehensible {for the most part} language.

The thing that probably kills me the most are his manners. I am a stickler for manners. Mama ain't raising no rude little brat. But I must take my sticklerness{is that a word?} to the extreme because Joey is over the top polite! And it's adorbs.
Joey: Bless you!
Joey: Bless you!
Joey: Bless you!
Bumps into me accidentally: Sorry Mum!
Bump into him: Sorry Mum!

"Pwease pweeeease I have {fill in blank}??"
He thinks please gets him anything!

If I give him anything ie a cookie, milk, dinner, a pat on the back? "thank you mummy!"

After we say grace at dinner:
Amen! * Kisses fingers * Mangia Mangia!
{Italian phrase loosely translated to Let's eat!}

When looking for anything.
"Woodsy where are you??"
"Mummy where are you??"
"Milk where are you??"

When Teddy wakes up from a nap.
"Mummy! Uh oh Teddy crying. Come on!
Teddy I coming!
Hiiiii Teddy!!!
Mummy. It's teddy!"

Hi teddy. {on repeat. All. the. time.}

{please note remnants of pumpkin choco muffin on his face}

Joey staring up at the crucifix over our bed.
Me: Who's that?
Joey: Jesus. Hi Jesus.

When I get Joey up in the morning and from naps.
"Hi Mummy!!!"{super jubilant I may add}
"Get Out?
Where's Teddy??"

When Teddy's crying:
"Shhh no cry teddy!
Ahhhh boo!! Ahhhh boo!!"

Joey: "Mummy--sleep!"
Me: pretend to sleep.
Joey: "Rahhhhhhh!"
Me:"ahh you scared me!"
Joey:{ laughs} "I scary. "

Well, if there is one thing we've learned from this post--I kinda dig the swanky parenthesis.

Recipe Club

Hey there.
I haven't shared a recipe in awhile but I swear I have been cooking and baking up a storm!
Today happens to be recipe club with Andrea from Momfessionals so I can share what's been going down in the kitchen.
{side note: If you don't follow Andrea you should. She's a super sweet mom with super cute kids keeping it real on her blog!}

So I had big plans to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch last week and when I went to pull out all the ingredients, I didn't have any brown sugar. Oops. I decided to get creative. Cake cookies seem to be all the rage on Pinterest and what did you know I had a box of yellow cake mix. So after consulting a few different recipes floating about I concocted my own.

Seriously it's so easy and simple. But they were delish!!

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
Mix first three ingredients until well blended then fold in choco chips. Scoop about a tablespoon amount onto a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes.

See? Easy!

I also made a strawberry cake cookie version of these last summer. Click here! And you could totally create your own too! The beauty of the cake mix! I think I'll try a lemon and white chocolate chip next time! I'll let you know how it goes.

Excited to check out all of today's recipes.

Happy hump day friends :)

Happy Tuesday friends.
It's shaping up to be a beautiful Fall week! I for one am loving it and living it. We are going to enjoy every speck of this glorious weather!

Here's to another week in our little moments.

Last week we started the week at the playground! Somehow Joey snuck Woodsy out with us. If you know me at all you know I am a HUGE germaphobe! You better believe Woodsy immediately went into the washing machine when we got home. When Joey asked for him I said he's taking a bath;)

Last Tuesday we went to the Narrow Gauge Railway. We just did the museum part, but they also offer a train ride. Joey had a blast. He was in his element.

The look if an artist! This cracked me right up!!

Teddy is getting so big!!

Game night! We have started hosting weekly sibling game night. It's a blast. We've mostly been doing Scattergories but this night we tried Heads Up and it was hilarious.

I missed Saturday! I didn't take one pic. Can you believe it? Yah me either.

Two bros. Hanging.

And some bonus pics :

My mom dropped me off a pumpkin spice coffee the other day. It was such a pleasant surprise!

Haven't decided if Joey likes playing with his blocks or just dumping them out;)

We read this book on repeat. It's our absolute fave. {goodnight, goodnight construction site}

I was able to snap a pic of Teddy waving! It kills me!

Friday Faves

It's Friday!
Stater of the obvs, I know.
We've had a long, fun, crazy week and I am so looking forward to the weekend!

It's Friday Faves time brought to you by Andrea, Erika and Narci!

 Favorite #1:
Fall weather has arrived in all it's brisk, cool and colorful glory in Maine. And I for one am loving it! We have been enjoying these Fall days to the fullest because I know full well winter is a knocking and apparently the way people are talking it's going to rival the ice age! So we aren't wasting a moment of this lovely season!

My first fall ensemble of the season!

Pre dinner walks!

Playground fun! You better believe Woodsy went straight for a bath via the washing machine immediately! Don't know how he snuck him out of the house! #germaphobe

Long walks! This kid is quite the little ham!

Favorite #2:
I took the boys on a little field trip to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum. Joey was in all his glory!
It was such a fun morning! And his little face is priceless. Teddy was as always a gem. He's such happy go lucky baby.

Fave #3:
I have been working on establishing a good nap routine with the Tedster. During his morning naps Joey and I have been getting some great one on one time. I have been trying to do one art project a week and Joey is LOVING it. I use the term art loosely because I may be the only person in the world who cried because of art class. An artist I am not. But I am trying! The teacher in me wants to try to do somewhat educational things during the day;)
Here are a couple projects we have been working on.

A is for Apple.

B is for binoculars.

Those binocs sure came in handy for exploration ;)

If anyone has a fun, easy(Joey is 2 1/2) art idea for the letter C send it my way!!:)

My cousin posted the professional pics from their wedding and this one is by far my fave!!
I'm dead! Seriously? Can't handle this cuteness! The face! Looks like a little tough guy!

If you wanna see an over abundance of pics I'm kinda an overgrammer of the insta variety so be sure to follow: @katiepal

Have a fabulous Friday friends!

#palpicoftheday & a picture dump

Hey there.
I'm back.
It's been a hot minute since I've blogged.
One week to be exact.
I haven't been doing anything crazy, just enjoying our crazy little life.
I am kinda bummed I lost track of the days in my palpicoftheday because it's so much harder to keep track of my daily pics.
I may try to start the actual days back up if I can remember!

Here is our week in pics as well as a little photo dump! I know you're dying to see what we've been up to;)

Really Mum? This is my entertainment?

Niner! My dad's dad was a huge Ted Williams fan and passed on his love of the Red Sox and the legendary number 9 to my dad who in turn passed it on to us! I was always #9 in my sports(when available obviously)! I sent this pic to my dad and he responded: My father would be proud! My papa passed when I was only 4 but I know he must have been a great man to have raised such a wonderful man as my dad!

Early morning snuggles with the Tedster  before the other boys wake up!

Art project or crime scene??

Best bros, best buds!

Game night at the Pals! So lucky to be friends with my siblings:)

Evening stroll before dinner!

Here's a little picture dump!
Kills me!

I'm dying at this photo! It reminds me of two old men!

Mimi surprised Joey with his first kids meal from Wendy's!
He's kinda a snob when it comes to chicken nuggets.

This kid is rolling over like a boss. Although he doesn't love being on his belly he is getting better!

But he hands out smiles like they're going out of style:)

Found his foot! A little afternoon snackity snack;)

How big is this kid?! He loves loves loves being outside and checking out the scene.

Oh hey Tedster, could you be a little less cranky? Thanks;)

Joey made some binoculars and they are coming in quite handy for exploring!

I'll be back tomorrow with Friday Faves and next week there will be a post all about Joey. He is quite the character!

Wanna see an over abundance of pal pics? Follow me on the gram: @katiepal

Happy Thursday!
