Recipe Club

Greetings blog readers! It's Wednesday which means we are just about half way through the week and heading over that hump towards the weekend! Happy hump day indeed! I am linking up with Andrea from Momfessionals for her Recipe Club! How fun is that?!

Today I am sharing one of my all time favorite recipes!! My pumpkin chili! This spring is quite the conundrum with the crazy confusing weather we've been having, so evenings are still quite chili(pun intended!)
Is there anything better than cozying up to a yummy bowl of chili?!
Some people think you can only eat pumpkin in the fall! And to those people I say shame on you!! Pumpkin is the perfect way to sneak veggies into food! And it's absolutely a tasty delight! So pumpkin can really be utilized any time!! I've shared this recipe on the old bloggity blog before, but really it's so yummy-- it's totally worth repeating!!

Ingredients:
1  lb of ground turkey (or hamburger, your choice!)
2 cans of diced tomatoes
1 can of 100% pure pumpkin (I use Libby's)
1 can of pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can of black beans(drained and rinsed)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 onion finely chopped (optional)
1 TBS cumin
2 TBS chili powder
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp salt

Brown turkey and sprinkle with a little minced garlic and parsley.  Meanwhile combine all other ingredients into a chili pot.  Add turkey and stir.  Bring mixture to a boil, then simmer and cook for about 45 minutes to an hour.  Sprinkle on a little shredded cheese and sour cream if desire.  This chili is so delish!  I always whip up a batch of cornbread as a side.

Enjoy!!

#palpicoftheday2014 Week 17

Yesterday sweet baby Teddy was three weeks!! In some ways I can't believe three weeks have gone by!! And then again I feel like Teddy has been with us forever! Our days and weeks are flying by and we are getting use to be a family of four! Here's what our week looked like!

Day 111:
Last Monday was actually my due date!! So glad Teddy is here and we are already settled in nicely as a family of 4! This was my first trip to the store with two kiddos! It was quite a success!

Day 112:
A week of firsts! This was my first walk with both kids! Joey is stylin in his hat, shades and Carhartt hoodie & Teddy is super cozy in the bjorn!

Day 113:
How precious is this picture?!  Brothers--be still my heart!

Day 114:
Teddy's cranky time is from 7-9! He's still cute even when he's wailing! And I'm convinced this cranky time leads to good night time sleeping! So I don't mind one bit;)

Day 115:
Friday was beautiful and we walked up to the playground! Not a shabby way to start the day!

Day 116:
This kid is obsessed with trains. Our house is basically grand central station!

Day 117:
Teddy's first bridal shower! He thought it was a snoozefest:)

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram for all our happenings and lots of cuteness!! @katiepal

Favorite Things Party

Well hello there. I have been a little MIA lately because I am still adjusting to life with a newborn and a two year old! And I have to tell you I'm loving it:) When faced with an opportunity to blog or get a little extra lovin with my boys, I'm choosing the latter!! I mean look at these sweet faces....Can you blame me?!

Joey the big bro!

Sweet baby Teddy

LOVE!

I'm posting my week in Instagram(@katiepal) pics tomorrow because today I'm joining Andrea and Erika for their favorite things party!!

I love this link up! I am the ultimate bargain shopper so I love finding fabulous things for under $10! Here we go!

If you follow me on Instagram you have seen me rock my monogrammed sweater from Old Navy! I love me a monogram. I saw these sweaters a couple of months ago and they were on sale for $9.99 and too cute not to buy!! Unfortunately they didn't have a K so I got the J for Joey. Because when they don't have your initial than you get your kids...am I right Mamas?? When I took a trip to Old Navy this weekend they still have them and they are on the clearance rack for under 10!! The letters are limited and don't think I didn't  search for a T for the tedster with no luck! It's a super comfy sweater and there's nothing cuter than a monogram!

Also while I was there I spied these perfect tees! $5.00 people!! Online I could only find white but in store they had an assortment of solid colors and even better--stripes! Perfect with jeans or shorts and great for layering! And the three buttons at the top also make this quite accommodating for a nursing mama!

If you haven't figured it out yet I am an Old Navy gal:)

Pop back tomorrow for my pics of the week!
Wednesday I'm linking up with Andrea for Recipe Club! I know--it sounds super culinary right?!;)
And Friday--I am getting Pin-spired without a baby bump for the first time in awhile!!

Have a wonderful week friends!!

What I read

Hi all! It's Wednesday! Andrew has gone back to work and I am settling into my new routine of boy mom of 2:) Things are going swimmingly thus far! But then again I really love this whole mom gig so how can I complain?!
Usually Wednesday I share What I Wore. However I've been so busy I forgot to take pics! Which is unfortunate since I finally don't have a huge belly bringing down my style;) I'll bring my A game next week for sure!

I decided since I haven't done a book recommendation in forevs that it would be the perfect day! So here is What I Read! See what I did there??

I got a couple new books that I have been dying to read in preparation for my hospital stay! I knew Andrew wasn't planning on sleeping at the hospital with me and I'd have a little time to sneak in some reading! How appropriate that the book I chose to read first was a memoir about motherhood!

Sparkly Green Earrings-Melanie Shankle

You guys, this book is an absolute gem! If you are a mom, going to be a mom or simply like a little witty banter-- this book is a must read!!

Melanie Shankle is absolutely hilarious. She writes the blog, Big Mama, so if you follow her then you already know her sharp sense of humor never disappoints!

She writes about motherhood in a way that is completely relatable!! She will have you laughing your butt one minute, tearing up the next and nodding your head in complete agreement all the while!

It's a breezy read and totally enjoyable from beginning to end!! I HIGHLY recommend it!!

Can't handle the cuteness!!

Just saying his prayers!

Day 108:
My Friday night date ;)

WWIW

Hi friends! I missed out on What I Wore Wednesday last week due to the little thing of having a baby:) I had a post prepared with some of my looks from the previous week so I thought I'd share a last look at my baby bumpin style!!
I seriously think people think women who are very largely pregnant are  suppose to look awful.  People are so surprised that I am dressed and looking presentable at nine months preggo.  I had been getting lots of compliments lately and I have to tell you it was doing wonders for my ego!  When you feel like a two ton whale it is honestly nice to hear people tell you how good you look!  All it takes is throwing on something that makes you feel cute and I totally believe you will look good!  I am once again linking up with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday!

I wore this outfit to my Grampy's 80th birthday.  I have had all of these pieces in my closet for a while and never knew how t style them.  I saw a look similar to this on Pinterest and decided to try it out.  I really loved it! I felt so springy! FInally!
 Shirt: Motherhood
Jeans: Motherhood
Blazer: Forever 21
flats: Marc Jacobs (I feel super swanky when I wear these)

Another spring outfit!! Got lots of compliments on this sweater and I unfortunately have no idea where it is from!
 Jeans: Motherhood
Scarf: Old Navy
shoes: Sperry
I posted this outfit on Instagram in the morning of the day Teddy was born having no clue how my day was about to end:)
This was my go-to pregnancy look! Comfy shirt and scarf!
Shirt: Old Navy Maternity
Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Shoes: Foms (fake Toms) from Walmart

Please keep in mind that I am posting from my phone with a sleeping babe in my arms so my pics aren't the best quality!

Check out yesterday's post for a baby cuteness overload!!

Happy hump day:)

#palpicoftheday2014 Week 15 and some bonus pics!

Well it's been a busy week to say the least! I started last Monday at toddler class with Joey, visited my grandparents, went to the playground and ended the day having a baby! It was quite the surprise as it was two weeks early but Edward John Paladino was ready to enter the world! And boy am I glad he did! It has been quite the whirlwind and I can't believe a week has already passed!! Here is what our week looked like in pictures!

Day 97:
I originally posted this as my pic of the day because it was about 7 and I thought for sure I wouldn't have a baby but the end of the end!! Oops I was wrong! Teddy came about 2 hours later!

So this should have been my pic of the day! My sweet boy:)

Day 98:
My little family of 4! This is when we introduced Joey to his little brother! He has been absolutely amazing! This kid is such a gem:) Hopefully he rubs off on Teddy!!

Day 99:
I woke up to this little poochie face:)

Day 100:
The brothers checking each other out! My heart melts!!

Day 102:
Happy Saturday! Joey is loving life and Teddy is just taking it all in!

Day 102:
This is how my Sunday started!! Swoon<3

Here are so bonus pics!!

Joey wante to carry Teddy over to me! Look how proud he is!

So sweet!

The lips!

This kid has mastered the yawn!

I still get cuddles from my big baby too:)

My boys!!

Hi I'm one week old!!

Happy Tuesday friends!

What's on my DVR

I'm back!! It's been one week since our family was blessed with another sweet boy!! Teddy made his appearance two weeks early and so we were a little unprepared!! But we have settled into a routine and he is such a good baby-- I hate to even say it aloud for fear of jinxing it!! I am totally in love with my family of 4!
He has mastered the yawn! It's a tough life when all you do is eat, sleep & poop!

My boys<3
Joey is such a sweet big bro!

I will be blogging all about Teddy later in the week but today I'm linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals for her What's On...Series. Today's topic: What's on my DVR!

This is actually the perfect topic for me because ...
1. I am a totally TV junkie. I also read a ton books so I tell myself it's ok that I also like to watch lots of TV!
2. Now that I am back to night time nursing sessions, I like to catch up on shows on the DVR! It makes being up at all hours more bearable!!

I actually usually add a bunch more shows when I nurse because I always wanna make sure I have something to watch, plus a lot of shows are ending for the season so I need to pick up shows that will play through the summer. So I have quite the array!

Please keep in mind I will most likely be blogging while nursing so my posts will be all from my phone for awhile. Hence the quality isn't as great!

BEST SHOW ON TV!
I can't rave enough about this show! So good! It's so realistic, acting is superb and the writing is amazing! I literally cry every episode! Not always because it's sad, but because it's so touching! If you don't watch, you should!!

I have watched this show from the beginning. It never gets old. I actually had to skip the episode from 2 weeks ago because it was about a flu epidemic that hit the hospital and being the germaphobe that I am I was too nervous my paranoia would get the best of me.

I love this show! I feel like we are getting a realistic look into the country music industry! I love the characters, the juicy plots and the music. I love me some Connie Britton and I die for her hair!! Although she will always be Tammy Taylor to me!

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you know my love for this show! Just click here!

This is my soap. I watch it every darn day. Love it! I usually watch it during nap time while I am folding laundry or doing a workout! So I am productive while soaping;)

I am an avid DWTS watcher!! I love Candace Csmeron Bure and was super pumped when I found out she was gonna be on this season! My sisters think I look like her which is like the best compliment ever and I'll take it!! I usually end up loving a lot of the stars because you really get to know a different side of them! Such a fun show!

I just recently added this show so I'd have something to watch at night. It's pretty good but it's no Newlyweds. Sigh Nick & Jess. Now that there are so many kids involved I have finally given up hope of them getting back together. Good thing I have all their seasons on DVD;)

They crack me right up!!

Now that How I Met Your Mother has ended these are the only two shows Andrew and I watch together so if you have any suggestions for us let me know!!

This takes up a majority of my DVR! Joey is obsessed, OBSESSED, I tell you!! I'm thinking this is going to be my saving grace once Andrew goes back work!

Make sure you pop back tomorrow for my #palpicoftheday2014 Week 15 recap! And some pics of Teddy!!
