Get Pin-spired: March!

Another month has come to an end! Good riddance February and your copious amounts of snow and cold:) Here's hoping March brings a glimpse into spring! Fingers crossed! I do love March! Click here to see my March Bucket List and see just why I love March!! I am also excited it's March for another reason!

Today it's time to Get Pin-spired!  I am once again linking up with Shay, Mel and Sheaffer! Be sure to check out their looks too! Fabulous!

Here are my looks! Please take into consideration I'm just about 33 weeks pregnant! I'm rockin the looks as best I can;)

Pinspiration #1:
I really really love this first look!! I was totally digging the navy and mustard!!

My look:
Shirt: Old Navy Maternity
Sweater: Charter Club--which means I am not sure of the store!
Jeans: Motherhood

Pinspiration #2:
I love the simple effortless look of this inspiration! And it just so happens that I had a similiar shirt that is beyond comfy!
My look:
Shirt: H&M not maternity just a large
Jeans: Motherhood
I spiced up this look by layering costume jewelry pearls and a Forever 21 necklace!

That's all I could manage this month!! Here's hoping for some nice weather this month so that April can be filled with a tad more springy look! It is currently 23 degrees so I just couldn't muster the spring wardrobe just yet!

Have a fabulous weekend, friends:)

March Bucket List

Today I am linking up with Erika from A Little Bit of Everything for her March Bucket List! I am really excited because I love March!! I have always loved March but of course now I love it even more because I have a special boy's bday to celebrate during the month!!  I feel like once March hits spring is in sight!!
So here is what's on the docket for March!

St. Patrick's Day!
We do St. Patty's Day up BIG in our family-- being the big Irish Catholic family that we are. It is an all day affair that culminates with a big corn beef and cabbage dinner at my Grammie & Grampy's! Yum! Joey will be sporting lots of festive garb the whole week leading up to the holiday and I will be making lots of green festive treats for us!! This was Joey last St. Patrick's Day!

Joey turns 2!
I cannot believe my sweet little baby is going to be two!! He is becoming such a big boy! And he is the sweetest thing ever to grace our lives! I have already started party planning in full force! It's going to be a baseball theme and the ideas are a flowing!! I'll post all about the party so stay tuned!!
This was the little prince when he turned 1! I can't believe how big he looks now!
This month we will be finishing Joey's big boy room! I want him in there for a good amount of time before baby #2 arrives!

March Madness
College tournament basketball is one of the most exciting sporting events of the year! Do I keep up with college bball all season?? No. I may catch an occasional game that the hubs is watching but really I am not a die hard fan. But come March Madness how can you not watch!! It's so exciting! I love the upsets, I love filling out a bracket, I love that people are watching at the most random times of the day!! My husband always joins a pool, but we also do a bracket between the two of us and play for something silly like who gets to pick dinners for the week or who has to get Joey ready for bed for the week or something like that! It's all very exciting:)

Yes, people I am BEYOND excited to start wearing flats again!! I am getting very sick of wearing boots!! But I have not be able to justify wearing no socks when the temps barely touch 30 degrees. Here's hoping March brings warmer temps so I can start mixing up my shoe selection!!

The Lenten season starts late this year! Easter is on April 20-- the day BEFORE my due date! Wonder if I'll have an Easter baby?! Anyways, March 3 is Ash Wednesday so I thought I would include a cute pic of Joey after he got his ashes last year!
I am already thinking of ways I will be preparing for Easter during Lent!  I have decided to do a book study to strengthen my faith and I always try to give up something to remind myself of the sacrifice Jesus made for us.  What will you be doing??

What are your plans for March?? Do you love this month as much as me?!

I am linking up today with The Pleated Poppy today for What I Wore.  I feel like just linking up to Lindsey's post motivates me because she is always dressed fabulous! I want her closet for sure!!
I actually gussied up quite a bit in the past couple of days and remembered to take pictures!  I feel like the more pregnant I get the more motivated I am to dress cute!  Does that sounds weird?! I think it just makes me feel better to be dressed rather than looking like a slob kabob in my sweats!
Here are some of my looks.
This is one of my favorite pregnancy looks to date! Not to mention that it is pretty comfy too!
Sweater: Jessica Simpson Maternity (love me some jsimp:))
Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Booties: Old Navy
White tank: H&M mama (you know I love me this shirt!)

black and white striped shirt: H&M mama
white tank: H&M mama
Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Black boots: Old Navy
Don't know why that one came out so blurry!!

32 week bumpdate

Quite a few of the bloggers I follow are also pregnant right now.  They have been doing regular bumpdate posts and I love reading them because I can totally relate!  I decided since I am officially 32 weeks that I would do a bumpdate post as well!  Here it goes:)

Baby #2 as of yesterday! She couldn't get me a 3D pic because the babe refused to move their arm away from their face!! This cracked me right up because that was exactly how Joey was too!! Joey came into the world with his hand by his face!
How Far Along: 32 weeks as of yesterday!
Size of baby: I had a ultrasound yesterday because they are keeping an eye on what appeared to be a fragile attachment of the umbilical cord. But everything was looking great!  Baby is head down, lots of movement(which I of course already knew!) baby practicing breathing and is already 4.4 lbs! That's the 79 percentile!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have gained about 25-30 lbs total so far! This past appt I hadn't gained for the first time!
Maternity Clothes: I actually have a great selection of maternity clothes.  My cousin Caitlan gave me a bin of her maternity clothes, my mom bought me a TON of stuff, and I had some things left over from pregnancy #1.
Here are some of my preggo looks!

Gender: It’s a ....surprise!
Movement:  All of the time and I’m absolutely loving it!  I feel like I'm super active during the day, so whenever I finally just sit and relax or at night when I finally lie down--I feel so much movement!
Sleep: Good not great!  I can't lay on one side for too long so I do a lot of tossing and turning.  But I do get a good amount of sleep and I only have to get up once to go pee! With Joey I woke up every 3 hours to pee--which definitely might happen the closer I get!
What I miss:  Just the vain things, nothing important.  Although I would really love a turkey sandwich!
Cravings:  I’ve just been really hungry this pregnancy. No specific craving, but I feel like I can’t eat enough. This is bad, friends. Really bad.  Thank goodness I am tall so I have lots of places to put the food;)
I have wanted burgers a lot more lately!  Weird, huh??
Symptoms: Oddly enough one of my biggest symptoms is a dry stuffy nose. I'll take that any day over some of the less pleasant things pregnancy can bring! Also have really dry skin--which could totally be attributed to winter weather and the fact that I take scorching hot showers!
Best Moment this week:  My fun, silly moments with Joey.  I am trying to soak in all this one on one time that I won't be able to give him as often when baby #2 arrives!

#palpicoftheday2014 Week 8 & such!

Our week in pictures!
Day 48:
I don't know about you but I NEED to make a To do list!  It alleviates so much stress in my life.  I love being able to check things off my list as I do them.  And all that I need to get done seems far less daunting with a To do list!  It is especially important on a Monday:)
Day 49:

Joey wanted to rock on of my bananas.  He loves being silly!
Day 50:

It was fairly mild on Wednesday after our storm on Tuesday! I took Joey out for a nice walk and then we ran into our cousins playing outside.  Joey had an absolute blast with them!
Day 51:

Thursday was a CRAZY busy day!  We had open gym in the morning and then I went right to meet with my mom so she could take Joey and then I had to work.  My sisters came over for dinner and we decided to get Orange Leaf for dessert after a long day!  It was delish! I got wedding cake fro yo with mini pb cups, choco chips, strawberries, raspberies and coconut!  However, I didn't realize how expensive it was! It cost $15 for just mine and Andrew's!! It was worth it!
Day 51:
The perfect rainy Friday for a picnic lunch in the living room with the little prince:)

Day 52:
A beautiful Saturday for a walk outside!! The fresh air made me a happy mum, but made for a sleepy boy!

Day 53:
Addicted to these bad boys!
Here are some other pics from the week!

Joey and the gang:)

I walked into the bathroom to this site! Cracked me right up!

Eating and LOVING pineapple! Woo woo!

Cuddling up by mum's feet:)

5 on Friday

Friday is usually reserved for my Friday Favorites.  But since this past Tuesday I already shared a few of my faves , I decided to link up with a. liz adventures, carolina charm, hello! happiness and the good life blog for their Five on Friday linkup!
Over half of the bloggers I follow all link up to these gals on Fridays so I thought today, I would too!
So here it goes...
As of Monday I will be officially 32 weeks pregnant! Phewsh did that fly by?! I am feeling great.  I feel super lucky.  I know there are some ladies out there that really struggle during pregnancy.  I am staying super active, drinking a TON of water and trying--not always successfully--to eat healthy.  I am definitely at that stage of pregnancy where I am SO obviously pregnant that people take notice.  Everyone loves on a pregnant lady!  It's one of my favorite things:)

On Tuesday I linked up with Andrea and Erika for their Favorite Things party!
Be sure to check out my favorite things here!

Things I am looking forward to about spring:
Baby #2 being born in April!
Spring clothes! Is anyone else SO sick of their winter threads???
Warm sunshiney weather!!
Going outside without bundling!
Long walks!

I am obsessed with dessert. I need to have something for dessert after dinner to wash down my meal! What's life without a sweet treat, am I right?! So every Sunday or Monday I make a homemade dessert for the week! Last week I made these super delicious Valentine's Blondies from Mix and Match Mama and my husband LOVED them! He told me he would be happy if I made them every week.  I couldn't agree more! So yummy! Note: I added some chocolate chips to mine!

This week we got an insane amount of snow!  One day when it was fairly warm, 35 degrees, balmy in Maine standards;)--I decided we needed to get out of the house for some fresh air!  We went for a nice walk and then met up with our cousins to play. Joey had a blast!  He refuses to wear gloves/mittens but that didn't stop him from having a ball!
I mean seriously! How stinkin cute?!
Have a fabulous weekend, friends!

Journal Day

Today I am participating in a new feature by Danielle from Sometimes Sweet.  Click here for more about it!  Essentially, she will be giving a Journal Prompt every week and than featuring her own response on her blog on Thursdays and invites other bloggers to do the same!  Well. if this didn't sound right up my alley!  I miss doing this kind of thing with my own students, so I thought it would be fun to join!

Journal Prompt #1:
Everyone has a time in their life they view as a crossroad. Sometimes you can see it as it's happening, and you're able to choose one way or another. Other times you may not realize you're there until you look back, and see what a turning point it really was. This week, write about a time you view as a marker in your life; a distinct place where things changed, for better or worse.

I thought about this and the immediate answer that jumped into my head was when I met my husband.  I also thought about how cliché that sounded!  However, it truly was a turning point in my life.  At the time, I was in a relationship with someone else.  The relationship was troubled at best.  It was the kind of relationship riddled with problems, but being a typical girl,  I sincerely thought I could change someone, and given time the problems that had plagued the relationship would disappear.  But we know that doesn't happen.  Girls never forget, nor do we let it go.  At least this girl didn't.
Then one Thursday night my now husband strolled into my life via the door to my brother's college suite.  Love at first sight sounds super corny, but it was something at first sight.  This boy had me smitten.  It was after that night that I started seeing him around a lot more.  I realized we had a class together --where I would shamelessly wink at him whenever he caught my eye.  We started meeting up at parties and chatting.  He was more than intriguing to me, but I honestly thought it was a harmless crush on a cute guy with boyish good looks.  I mean here I was in my last semester of college, and he was only a sophomore.  It just wouldn't work out.  He was just a cute, fun guy to innocently flirt with now and then.  Or so I thought.  It came to a point where I realized that my feelings may no longer be so harmless.  And even if it amounted to nothing, it was obvious to me that my feelings were indifferent at best in my current relationship.  I made the decision to end my relationship and see what came, if anything, with Andrew.  In hindsight, I think I made the right decision for both me and my ex.  We both definitely ended up exactly where we were meant to be.  Andrew and I didn't immediately jump into a relationship but it obviously headed there.  I am so glad I made the choice to take a chance and see where my life was truly meant to lead.  I am so thankful I found Andrew.  He is so thoughtful, such a hard worker, an absolutely wonderful father, has me laughing all the time, and it doesn't hurt that he is easy on the eyes;)  I think it was meant to be that Andrew walked into my life that Thursday night in January 7 years ago.  I haven't looked back since!

Tomorrow I am linking up to the Five on Friday for a little change of pace on the old bloggity blog.  Be sure to pop by!

I am once again borrowing the Currently feature from Danielle at Sometimes Sweet. Click here to check out her currently post this week. Did you miss my currently post from last week? Click here!

Wearing: Since I usually link up with The PLeated Poppy on Wednesday for What I Wore I decided to include an outfit!  It has been cold and super snowy here so I didn't take many pictures as I have been rockin the comfy cozies...A LOT! Here is a day I actually got dressed!
Sweater: Laura Scott
long white tank: H&M mama
long sleeve striped shirt: Old Navy Maternity
jeans: Motherhood Maternity
boots: Target
scarf: TJ MAXX

Reading: Last week I was just starting Eleanor and Park and have to say that I  LOVED it!! I blogged about it here. I am now having a hard time starting a new book because the last couple of books have been so amazing that I just can't bring myself to start another one!!  Does that ever happen to you?? Do you have any recommendations for me?? Please let me know!

Eating: I really am a creature of habit when it comes to my breakfast and lunch routine!! I have to have a bowl of cereal for breakfast every morning! I love cereal! I am really into Kashi cereals right now. I am switching it up between Berry Crumble and Honey Toasted Heart to Heart! Yum! So delish!
Can I tell you that I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich just about every day for lunch! There is really nothing better than a pb&j in my book!

Watching: Can I tell you one thing I haven't been watching? The Olympics! I don't know why but I just can't seem to get into them! I am seriously missing my shows that are all taking a break due to the Olympics though! But new episodes are back next week! Thank goodness! My husband and I have been watching lots of reruns of Modern Family! That show kills me. I literally laugh from beginning to end. Hysterical, I tell you!

Feeling: At 31 weeks I am feeling pretty good! My stomach has definitely popped significantly making it a little harder to maneuver around and chase a very energetic 23 month old:) But besides that I feel pretty good!! I feel very lucky to have had a relatively easy pregnancy. The hardest thing about being pregnant this second time around is trying to keep up with my very active toddler!

Loving: My morning coffee time as I catch up on all the blogs I follow, tall glasses of water(I seriously can't get enough these days!), all the funny new things Joey is doing/saying--he really cracks me up!! And as much as it is getting old--I'd have to say I love that the snow is making me slow down and have some time at home to relax and get things done!

Stop by tomorrow--I am joining up with Danielle again for a really cool new Journal prompt feature she is doing!

Happy Hump Day friends!

Favorite Things Party! Woot woot!

I'm once again linking up with Erika from A Little Bit of Everything and Andrea from Never Say Never for their Favorite Things Party!
I love this link up because let's be honest...who doesn't love to spend less than $10 on something fabulous!?
I obviously can't EVER just choose one thing, so here are my top 3!
Favorite #1:
These rings!
Aren't they just adorable?! My two sisters and I all just bought them!  Clearly I got the big sister, Moira the mid and Annie the lil!  They were $30 for all three so we each paid $10! They are just fabulous! We got them off Etsy.  Click here for the link! I am seriously in love with mine!  I love a little finger bling!  Especially when my hands are looking like grannies being all dry and pasty due to this weather and the fact that I am washing my hands at least a hundred times a day!!
Favorite #2:
You might be wondering why the heck grape juice is one of my favorite things!!  Well, let me tell you.  As I was perusing Pinterest I found this article about how grape juice can prevent the stomach bug! Being the narotic anti-puke crazy that I am I took this article VERY seriously!  Tis the season for the stomach bug, am I right??? So I have been drinking a big glass of grape juice EVERY day during this sicky time! Ugh even thinking about it gives me a stomach ache! I know this is not a medical fact and I don't really care!  If there is even the slightest possibility that this is true--I am going with it! So please don't tell me otherwise! Gosh I love Pinterest--she saves the day again!
Favorite #3:
How cute is this St. Patty's Day shirt! We do St. Patrick's Day up BIG being the Irish Catholic family that we are!  I saw this t-shirt at the Children's Place the other day and had to snag one for Joey!  It was only $5.00, people!  Click here if you need to order one for your kiddo.  They also had this really cute leprechaun one as well!

Thanks for popping by the old bloggity blog today!  Happy Tuesday friends!

#palpicoftheday2014 Week 7

Our week in pictures!
Day 41:
I had my 30 week appointment and my Mum took Joey so I wouldn't have to bring him!  We traded cars because she had a few things to do but I got back home before she did only to realize that she had the house key! Good thing I always have a book in my bag.  I enjoyed a few leisurely minutes of peace and quiet:)  This book is amazing by the way and I blogged about it here!
Day 42:
Just a little early morning jam sesh to Hey Baby to start our Tuesday! Joey likes to listen to three songs on repeat in the car.  This is one of them.  He can even sing along--it's so stinkin adorable!
Day 43:

Just fist pumpin to sitting on MumMum's lap for dinner:)
Day 44:

Got in an early workout before the snow arrived!  Mall walking with all the old folks! We were cruising!
Day 45:

Smooches for my little Valentine!  Meant to capture a pic with my big Valentine, but totally forgot!  Oops!
Day 46:
Home Depot with my fellas for supplies for Joey's big boy room!
Day 47:

Had to tackle this kid to the ground so I could put on his shoes and coat! And snap a pic of course:) He knows shoes and coat=car and he's not always a fan!

Have a fabulous week!

Whatcha been cookin?

I realized I hadn't done a recipe post in awhile and felt the need to rectify that situation! I have been cooking and baking up a storm and wanted to share the yummy goodness!!

I made a really delicious slash easy peasy dinner the other night! I seriously LOVE anything that can be dumped in the crock pot and viola four hours later you dish it onto your plate! This recipe is called Chicken a la king which is very appropriate as it is a dinner for for a king!! Click here for the recipe!

I made strawberry whoopie pies in honor of V-Day for the hubs to bring to work. They looked amazing! Whoopie pies may seem intimidating but these were SUPER easy!

You need:
1 box of strawberry cake mix
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup veggie oil
2 eggs
1 can of frosting ( I used the Valentine's funfetti frosting but you could also use vanilla!)

Combine first 4 ingredients in a mixing bowl until well blended. Scoop a little over a tablespoon onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cook 10 minutes. Let cool completely. Take frosting and slather between two pies and there ya have it! Easy right??

Looking for a quick, easy and inexpensive meal!! I have one for you! I am a big fan of pasta but sometimes it can get boring! The other day I mixed it up a bit and all you really need is 3 ingredients!!

1 lb of ground beef
1 jar of favorite pasta sauce. I usually use Newmans or Bertolis
1 box of medium shells.

Dump sauce in pot and cook on low.  While water is boiling brown ground beef.  I usually add a bit of minced garlic and parsley to my beef.  After it is browned and drained add it to sauce and keep warm while pasta is cooking.  Mix and all together and there ya have it!
We had ours with rolls and salad, but you could do whatever floats your bloat...or belly as the case may be;)

You could also try this awesome pull apart pizza bread that I made last week! Delish, my friends!

Have any yummy recipes for me? I love trying new things!  Email me! katiepaladino9@gmail.com
