Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!

Joey slept in his Halloween pjs last night! Aren't they cozy and festive??

I dressed up Joey in his costume and we headed to Holy Cross for their parade!
He was slightly frightened, but still the cutest Jack o' lantern around!
I wanted to him the get a few wears out of his costume since he really won't be doing much trick or treating. Maybe just a few houses!

We went to show off our costume to Mimi and Papa and my Grammie and Grampy!

I was able to snap a few cute pics! We shall see how it goes tonight:)

Last night I made some Ghoul-ash in honor of Halloween! It was a hit:) Click here for the recipe!

I also whipped up a batch of Halloween whoopie pies! De-lish! Click here for the recipe!

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

Don't forgot to pop back tomorrow for Get Pin-spired!

Morning Routine

"Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I've got a beautiful feeling...everything's going my way!"

Good morning, everyone! Wednesdays I usually do a What I Wore post, but this Friday is my favorite day...Get Pinspired! And I thought to myself, how many outfits do these people really want to see me in. So rather then inundate you with too much fashion I thought I'd do a morning routine post!

Andrew and I are like a well oiled machine in the mornings. We have our routine down and it totally works for us! I would really love to be one of those moms who wakes up before her kid and gets some stuff done but being pregnant, cold and dark outside is just not allowing that to happen right now;) So Andrew and I both get up between 6-6:30. Andrew gets Joey and I head downstairs to get breakfast ready for my boys!

This morning I didn't get downstairs until 6:30. The night before Joey woke up at 12:30 and didn't fall back asleep until 1:45! He just wanted to play the little stinker. Needless to say Andrew and I were TIRED! So we slept a little later:)

I got te coffee a' brewing and started up some English muffins.

Here's Joey waiting for his English muffin to pop up. We have a toaster song that we sing while we wait and this is Joey dancing to it, hence the blurriness.

I had to use Halloween plates to be festive of course!!

I can't eat breakfast until I enjoy a cup of coffee first:)

Joey wanted to cool it down for me by blowing on it.
Then he crawled into my lap to cuddle! Don't I look pretty first thing in the morning??
LOVE:)

We always let Joe watch an episode of Bubble Guppies in the morning. So while Joey watched and Andrew showers i get his lunch ready!

I take my wifely/motherly duties very seriously. Let's just say when Joey starts school he is going to have the best lunches! When I was growing up, my mom packed the best lunches! I learned very well:)

I ate my breakfast. I'm totally a cereal and milk kinda gal. Then I got Joey and I bundled up and we headed to the mall for a walk! The mall opens at 6:00 for walkers and once it starts getting cold Joey and I head there to keep warm and walk about 4 miles!

We picked up my sister to join us! After our walk, my sister and I treated ourselves to a Starbucks coffee:)

After I dropped Annie off, Joey and I headed to story time at the library and then played in the kids room for awhile!

Joey was having a blast with this wooden train!

We got home just in time to play outside for a bit before lunch and nap!

We like to keep our mornings nice and busy so we are nice and tired for nap time:)

Top Five: Sandra Brown

This past week I have been on a major Sandra Brown kick.  I am on my third book of hers since last week.  She has written a variety of different types of books, but I really love her romance suspense thrillers.  She has written 31 books in this category and I have read at least 15 of them, some more than once! Her newest book just came out recently and while I am waiting for my copy to arrive at the library I  have been re-reading some of my favorites.  Her books pack in just enough romance and suspense that you can't put it down until late into the night, and even then your mind is reeling over the twists and turns her books take.  More often than not, each chapter ends with a cliffhanger than has you needing to read more!  It can be mighty consuming, but always satisfying.  Her ability to write in the male perceptive is almost uncanny.  Click here to see my original post on my love for Sandra Brown as well as a few reviews.  And without further ado, my top five favorite Sandra books!  In no particular order!

1. Envy
Living on a remote island under an assumed name, novelist Parker Evans guards his secrets well. Fascinated by this reclusive genius, publisher Maris Matherly-Reed decides to pursue him. But this new project threatens an old commitment, a commitment at the very center of her life.

2. The Switch
...Identical twins Melina and Gillian Lloyd haven't considered switching places since childhood. So when Melina proposes that Gillian take her place as a media escort to NASA astronaut Col. "Chief" Hart, she refuses...at first. The following morning Melina receives terrible news: her sister has been brutally murdered-and Chief, though innocent, is the prime suspect. He and Melina are determined to find the killer, a megalomaniac whose horrific schemes require Gillian's replacement, her identical twin-Melina.

3. Best Kept Secrets
Alexandra Gaither was a savvy, beautiful attorney who finally had the power to get what she wanted -- justice...
Twenty-five years before, her mother had died a scandalous death. Alex believed one of three powerful men had murdered her. Each was charming; each was a suspect. And each tried to shield her from his sins and secrets. But only one of them could ignite a desire as passionate as her need for the truth.
Like her mother, Alex sparked controversy and excitement in this remote Texas town. Now, as she slowly uncovered the pasts of her mother's former lover, his best friend, and the father figure to them both, Alex would risk everything to know their... BEST KEPT SECRETS.

4. White Hot
When she hears that her younger brother Danny has committed suicide, Sayre Lynch relents from her vow never to return to Destiny, the small Louisiana town in which she grew up. She plans to leave immediately after the funeral, but instead soon finds herself drawn into the web cast by Huff Hoyle, her controlling and tyrannical father, the man who owns the town's sole industry, an iron foundry, and in effect runs the lives of everyone who lives there. As she feared, Sayre learns that nothing has changed. Her father and older brother, Chris, are as devious as ever, and now they have a new partner-in-crime, a canny and disarming lawyer named Beck Merchant, who appears to be their equal in corruption.
Soon, Sayre is thrown in closer contact with Beck and becomes convinced that something more sinister is at play than her father's usual need to dominate people and events. As she sets out to learn just what did happen to Danny, she comes to realize that there are many secrets in Destiny -- secrets that hide decades of pain and anger, and that threaten at any moment to erupt and destroy not only her father and brother, but perhaps Sayre herself.
Underneath the rigid control that the Hoyles exert over the town, trouble is brewing. Old hatreds foster plans for revenge, past crimes resurface, and a maverick deputy sheriff determines that Danny Hoyle's death was not suicide, but murder.
As tensions mount, threatening to ignite a powder keg of long-held hostility, Sayre finds herself inextricably drawn into a struggle with striking laborers, her unscrupulous father, and her own emotions over the love/hate relationship that is growing with Beck, a man apparently with his own agenda, and mysteries of his own.

5. Lethal
When her four year old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that "sick" man turns out to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of murdering seven people the night before. Dangerous, desperate, and armed, he promises Honor that she and her daughter won't be hurt as long as she does everything he asks. She has no choice but to accept him at his word.
But Honor soon discovers that even those close to her can't be trusted. Coburn claims that her beloved late husband possessed something extremely valuable that places Honor and her daughter in grave danger. Coburn is there to retrieve it -- at any cost. From FBI offices in Washington, D.C., to a rundown shrimp boat in coastal Louisiana, Coburn and Honor run for their lives from the very people sworn to protect them, and unravel a web of corruption and depravity that threatens not only them, but the fabric of our society.

*All my summaries come from GoodReads.

In all honestly, every single book I have read by Sandra Brown could be on my Top 5 list.  These are the 5 that just happened to jump to mind this week:)

Weekend Wrapup

This weekend was rather uneventful and I loved it. It's nice to not have anything to do sometimes. We woke up Saturday morning and lounged. I made my famous scrambled eggs and English muffins. I had to work at 10. I have worked at Maxwells part time for just about 8 years and I have never had a busier 4 hour shift by myself since I have been there! I never stopped once all day! There was a cruise ship in town and lots of people just out and about spending money! I love busy days at work, it goes by so fast and you get to meet lots of interesting people! Andrew picked me up at 2. My boss calls this princess parking:) But it's just too darn hard to park in the Old Port so I like to be dropped off:) We headed to do our weekly grocery shopping. I LOVE grocery shopping so this was a weekend highlight for me. Joey was so good. Granted we did shovel food into his mouth the entire time. He started off with an apple, then a piece of cheese from the deli and then he busted into a bag of Goldfish. In his defense he hadn't eaten since breakfast. Yes, that's right folks, Andrew forgot to give him food while I was at work! That's why a kid needs his mom, she tends to remember the important things, like I don't know--feeding her children;)
Here's Joey being silly when we were checking out:

I went to church that night. It was the first time I had gone to church by myself since Joey was born. It's a much different experience. And while I was at church Andrew got Joey all ready for bed! That was a nice treat! On the way home, I picked up a double dough half cheese half pepperoni pizza from Pats for dinner. We had that and salad and it was delish!! Right after dinner I had to lie down though, I was completely dead from work! Joey came over and sat with me and was making the most absurd faces. I was literally crying I was laughing so hard!

My sister, Annie, and my brother's girlfriend, Casey, came over and watched the Sox game. It was the first 8:00 game that I actually made it up for the whole game...and that ending! Ugh! Thank goodness they won last night!
Sunday was another lazy morning. I worked again, much quieter on Sunday. Then I came home and watched the Pats game with Andrew and he made us a snack of buffalo chicken quesadillas! Yum:)
We took a little trip to Home Depot. We are in the early stages of moving Joey to his "big boy" room and out of the nursery room. I want this all complete and have him in his new room before the baby arrives so he doesn't have to face too many changes all at once! We just took a stroll around Home Depot for some strategizing and pricing. And then I happened upon this display!
Christmas stuff!! Ahh love love love!! The Christmas season brings so much joy to my heart!! And no it is not too early, people! There are only 57 days until Christmas! I may or may not have left with a Christmas rug:)
We ended the weekend with a nice ham dinner and the Red Sox game.

Next weekend I don't have to work on Saturday and we have no plans! I get to spend the entire day with both my boys! This never happens! I am so excited about all the stuff we can do:)

Have a fabulous week:)

Friday Favorites

Seriously, is it Friday again!?  The weeks are flying by.  My mum always use to say the older you get the faster it goes.  Ain't that the truth!! It is already time for my favorites of the week.

Favorite #1:
My cozy mint blanket

Yes, people it is already time to start busting out the blankets because frankly it is just darn cold! By 7:00 every night I am completely wiped.  Once Joey is in bed I am on the couch cuddled up with a blanket, a book and some good TV!

This is me cuddled up on the couch with my blanket that I got at Shaws for $6.00!! I am nothing if not a bargain shopper.  And you know what?  This blanket is downright cozy!

Favorite #2:

I really love this Bible quote! I think that this is a quote that can apply to just about anything in our life.  Whatever is happening, I always pray about it.  I try(TRY is the key word) not to stress about things in life, because I know God has a plan for all of us.  And through prayer we can be granted the peace we need to accept things life throws at us.

Favorite #3:
My little Red Sox fan

Would my post be complete without a Joey pic?? We are very excited about the Sox being in the World Series over in this house and Joey showed his Red sox pride this week by rockin his garb!  Couldn't you just eat him up?! I can't even stand it:) However, I am his mom so I am a little biased!

Enjoy the chilly weekend:)

Introducing my Top Five!

People know I like to read. So people always ask me for book recommendations. Sometimes I find this hard. Not because I don't have anything to recommend, but because I have too much to recommend. I also read such a wide variety of books that I try to cater to what I think a particular person may enjoy. Hence, an idea was born. I am starting a Top Five Series! Each week I will give you my top five favorite books by category. The category may be a particular genre, author, style or what have you. That way I can narrow down my recommendations and hopefully find a book for everyone!! Stay tuned for my first Top Five next week! In the meantime I am off to finish the current book I can't put down!! Happy reading my little bookworms:)

What I Wore Wednesday

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday.  This is such a fun day!  Today I thought I would share some of the pieces that I got shopping in Kittery on Sunday.  I am totally adding to my maternity wardrobe thanks to my mum and mother-in-law!

I got this sweater at Motherhood.  It is from the Jessica Simpson Maternity line.  If you know me at all you know I am obsessed with Jessica Simpson.  I own all the Newlyweds DVDS and still have not quite got over the Nick and Jess split. I have stayed a true jsimp fan.  I have always adored her style, and I am totally loving this sweater! I am also rocking my new glasses! What do you think??

The next two pictures are of the same shirt but different colors.  They are super comfy and can be styled in many different ways.  I love the buttons on the shoulders!

 Same shirt, different looks!

I am totally loving navy blue and hot pink.  I found this shirt on the sales rack at Gap for $4.99!! It's not maternity, so I got an XL and it is so cozy and perfect for hanging out.
I just love stripes!

How do you like  my new leopard scarf?! Pinterest Told Me To and Mix and Match Mama have been singing the praises of a leopard scarf for awhile now, it was time I added one to the wardrobe.

I got a few other pieces that you will surely see in the upcoming months!

Joey made out splendidly as well, but he is anti picture right now.  I'll try to snap a cute picture soon:)

Happy Wednesday people!

My Egg Salad Recipe

Normally, I am a total peanut butter and jelly gal.  But, lately I have seriously been craving egg salad!  Can't get enough egg salad.  I also have been watching The Chew and am totally loving it! Daphne happened to have a little trick to jazzing up egg salad that I immediately needed to try!  Pickle juice! Genius, right?! Well maybe it only sounds appealing to us pregnant girls, but I assure you, the egg salad is delish!

Here is my recipe with the pickle juice twist.

Eggs (the number depends on the amount you want to make)
a dollop of mayo
a splash of pickle juice
a dash of salt and pepper
a generous sprinkle of dill weed

Fill the pot with your eggs and cold water.  Once the eggs are at a rapid boil turn off the stove and let them sit there as they cool.  I then add them to cold water for a bit.

Then all you need to do is peel the eggs and mix them with all the other ingredients! So easy! I always add slices of tomato an lettuce to my egg salad sandwich, but you doctor it up anyway you like:)

Weekend Wrapup

I have been absolutely horrible about taking pictures during the weekend.  Not to mention Joe refuses to do anything cute when I put the camera on him.  He is not his mother's son.  Here are some of the highlights of the weekend:

-Andrew and I watched Pitch Perfect on Friday night.  That movie cracks me right up everytime.
-Mrs. DiPierro sent me a couple of her pumpkin whoopie pies. Delish!! (and can we just talk about how spell check does not recognize the word whoopie?! Has it been living under a rock?!)
-Saturday morning I forced Andrew to go for a nice long walk with Joey and me.  We stopped at Little Bigs for coffee and their yummy fried dough like donut. Yum!
-We got Joey's Halloween costume! He's going to be an Jack O'Lantern!
-Saturday night we made pizza and watched the Sox game.  Although I am seriously having a hard time keeping my eyes open during these late games! Gosh darn pregnancy fatigue!
-Sunday I had a girls day shopping trip to Kittery with my momsister, cousins, my aunts and my mother-in-law.  We left at about 9:30, shopped, had lunch, shopped some more.  It was fabulous.  I made out like a bandit and so did Joey!  Stay tuned for Wednesday when I show you some of my haul:)
-We ended the weekend with a fabulous night of New England Sports:)
-Also, this weekend Joey added quite a few new words to his vocabulary as well as a hilarious new dance move!

Can't leave without a Joey pic!
Here he is in his new Dino hat!!:)

Friday Favorites

Today I am sharing my favorite things of the week!

Favorite #1:
Hart of Dixie returned this week! Last year it quickly became one of my favorite shows! It makes me want to head on down to Bluebell, Alabama drink some sweet tea and talk in a southern accent y'all!

This is one of the many reasons why I love HOD! Wade Kinsella, man candy:)

Monday was TV overload for me!! I taped Hart of Dixie and watched it Tuesday morning. From 8:00-8:30 I watched How I met Your Mother with Andrew while flipping to the Sox game during commercials! At 8:30 I quickly turned it to DWTS while flipping to the Sox game during commercial. When there was a commercial for both, I flipped to the Falcons game! Talk about the mother of all TV in on night! Phewsh!

Favorite #2:
Joey and I took a trip to Trader Joes with my mom yesterday to stock up on all things pumpkin--waffles, soup, ravioli...ya know normal stuff with a pumpkin twist! Plus a few other yummy things. I always forget how much I love TJs until I take a trip. Some of my favorite TJ finds are:
Their milk!! It's so much cheaper than anywhere else!
Their version of pirates booty. Amazing!! It's so light, if you aren't careful you find that you have eaten the whole bag in one sitting. Trust me, I know.
Yesterday I found these super delish and I like to think super healthy;) tortilla chips that are flax seed and spinach and tomato! Ahh so good!!
I also love their orange chicken and veggie fried rice!
And as I was checking out my mom spotted this candy bar--peanut butter and jelly filled chocolate squares. Holy!
All and all in was a successful trip!

Favorite #3:
The Red Sox winning the division series! What a year to be a Sox fan! Although I'm not overly happy about the 8:30 games seeing as though I can barely stay up until 8:30!:)

My trilogies are almost complete!

Maybe it is the middle school teacher in me, but I have a thing for YA novels.  I think you are all in need of a good YA book recommendation! And today you are in for a treat because I have 6 books to recommend!! I know that's a lot!
The books happen to be part of two different trilogies and both trilogies' third book are coming out within the month! Imagine my excitement? I am in the process right now of rereading the first two books in each of the series and it has only reinforced how much I love them!! If you were a fan of the Hunger Games, you will love these series too! In fact, I think I liked these trilogies better!!

The first series is the Divergent series. I first blogged about it here. The second book in the tril is called Insurgent and the third, Allegient, comes out October 22!

The second trilogy is Legend. Click here to find out a little bit about the trilogy. Prodigy is the second book in the tril and the third, Champion, is released on November 5!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love these books! Is it really weird I am secretly in love with the male character in each of the these series?! I don't know if it makes me a romantic or a sicko, but I am pretty sure you will secretly have a book love affair with them too! And you will angrily yell at the girl characters when they don't fully appreciate how awesomely romantic and sweet the guy is!

This is a convo my fellow teacher friend and I had about the books.

This convo went on and on but I didn't want to reveal too much about the books.  As you can see, we REALLY love the books!

Divergent has been made into a movie that comes out March 21.  There is talk( amongst movie making big whigs, I presume??) of a Legend movie as well.  I am pretty excited, but also nervous because movies based on books never live up to my expectations.  Books are ALWAYS better.

Anyways, I hope you read the books.  And then feel free to talk about them with me.  I love talking books:)

I apologize for the insane number of exclamation points in this post.  I just get really excited about books:)  I know I am a huge nerd.  But it is part of my charm:)

What I Wore Wednesday

Besides teaching my favorite lessons and getting students to love books, the thing I miss most about teaching is getting dressed in cute outfits every morning.  I know, talk about vain right?! But getting dressed in the morning gives me a sense of purpose. That is why when I first discovered What I Wore Wednesday I was all over it! Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy started this blog series because as a stay at home mom she wanted a good reason not to stay in her pjs and sweats all day. I love this idea! Actually getting dressed cute every once in awhile makes me feel human! Here are aome of my looks of the week.

I started busting out some of my maternity clothes. Shirt is from Gap and jeans are from Motherhood. I absolutely love all my maternity jeans. They are just so darn comfy!

I've made reference to this shirt before. I had a gift card to Akari and so I splurged on this sweater. It was 75 dollars! Ridiculous right?! But I had my gift card and that made it ok! It's not a maternity sweater but it's stretchy enough to wear for awhile.

Who doesn't feel super chic in a blazer. I love this one because it is sweatshirt material so it is so cozy! Love:)

Happy hump day folks!

What's up with Joey

I can't believe how big by baby is getting! He isn's baby anymore. He's all toddler! Joey had his 18 month appointment last week. He is very healthy! And the nurse said he was one of the most well behaved 18 month olds she had had in a while! So that made me happy:) Here are Joey's stats:
Height: 32 in. (75 percentile) looks like he might be taking after the tall boys in my family!!
Weight: 24 lbs (52 percentile)
Head size: can't remember the size but he was the 72 percentile. He has the foster melon!

Joey is running around like crazy and he is a big climber! If I turn my head for a second he's climbed up on the kitchen table for a banana. He's not a huge talker yet, but he has about 10 words and he's pretty good at repeating sounds back to me.   He has gone from calling me mum mum to just mum.
He is super active which allows for a nice long afternoon nap! Thank goodness!

His new thing is making funny faces. Here is a sample.
He does some funny things with his mouth. Thinking his bottom teeth migt be bothering in a bit.

He knows how to ham it up. As my mom would say, "he doesn't get that from the wind." :)

This is his "I know I'm cute" face. We were doing some Monday morning errands.

We snuck outside yesterday afternoon for a little fresh air while there was a break in the rain! Much needed!

Here are more silly faces!

Those lips! Where did they come from?!

I am having so much fun with this kid! He has me laughing all day!
